COUNTY TITLE FOR TONY HOYES

Shooting at Cleethorpes over the weekend Tony Hoyes became the Lincolnshire Indoor County Compound Champion with a score of 1161.Also in the medals was Steven Knowles with a second place (1126) in the gents recurve, Maxine Bailey with a third place (1115) in the ladies compound and Michelle Dalhaug with a third place (1063) in the ladies recurve event.

BINGHAM 18Mtr F.I.T.A

Grantham Archery Club members took part in an 18m indoor competition in Bingham on Sunday. There were good individual results for Michelle Dalhaugh, second plce in the Ladies Recurve and a second place for Maxine Bailey in the Ladies Compound section, with the club team third over all.

ARCHERY INDOOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Grantham Archer Neil Dowsett has been selected to represent Great Britain in the forthcoming Indoor World Championships tobe held in Turkey next month. Neil came through an eight hour gruelling selection process a fortnight ago at the National Sport Centre in Shropshire. Only the top archers in the Country with qualifying scores were invited to participate in the event. The selection shoot consisted of a 60 arrow elimination round with the top eight archers going through to the head to head round robin stage. Archers earned bonus points for winning matches and putting in high scores and were deducted points for scoring badly. All the scores were added together including bonus points etc. with the top three archers being selected. Neil was placed eighth after the elimination round and proceeded to win six out of seven head to head matches including two nearest the middle shoot-offs to finally finish third and gain selection onto the GB team.

DAWS TAKES VICTORY AT BOSTON

Grantham Archers took part in the third indoor league event at Boston at the weekendand came away with a handful of trophies. Chris Daws took the gents recurve division.
Neil Dowsett continued his recent run of victories to win the gents compound division with a score of 592 with Tony Hoyes third with 573. Michelle Dalhaug was just outside the medals with 540 in the ladies recurve division.
